Big Data continues to be a the hot topic.  However Knowledge Management(KM) professionals remain wary of what it means to them and how to make big data meaningful from the perspective of knowledge creation and discovery.  Our next meeting on 16th October is on the subject of social big data,  a continuation of this important discussion and exploration.

Abstract

Data sets concerning social phenomena are huge. It could be hospital medical records, consumer financial records, city transportation information and etc. One perspective is to optimize the views on collected data sets, in other words, the number of measurement or dimensions. This presentation illustrates some cases in social big data dimension issues, the relationship of operation knowledge discovery, recommendation system, big graph and the handling of billion data records through Random Matrix Theory (RMT).

Bio:

Ir Daniel Ng CPA FBCS is a professional manufacturing and logistics engineer (HKIE), CPA and Fellows of British Computer Society. He successfully employed his professional knowledge to boost a listed company’s share price in 11 times during his directorship 2009-2010. Currently, he runs five business units from digital textile printing, party sales, internet scanning, business intelligence and Russian oil import.
